Hertfordshire Highways Department’s work to prevent potholes in Hertfordshire’s roads has been praised by the Government.

A report commissioned by the Department of Transport highlighted Hertfordshire County Council’s method of treating roads before problems developed as particularly cost-effective. It is recommending other councils follow Hertfordshire lead, as they look to work within severely restricted budgets, without offering a lower level of service.
